How To-Clay Animals

I was playing with my clay on the weekend, and made a few tiny little animals for my friends. They are simple to make, and cute to look at- what could be better?
What's needed to create them:
  • Clay in your choice of colors
  • 2 seed beads {for eyes}
  • Toothpick-its helpful for putting it together and drawing a mouth.
  • Any extras that you might use in accessories.
How to make them:
  1. Make round ball with your choice of color of clay. This will be the body.
  2. Make 4 small logs with the same color of clay. These will be the arms and legs.
  3. Make a ball smaller than the body. This will be the head.
  4. Create a tail and ears.
  5. Gently put together the parts, then make a tiny pink ball and attach- this is the nose.
  6. Collect 2 tiny beads- called seed beads, and put those in, too. They are the eyes.
  7. Now you can make any little accessories that you want!
After you make 1 or 2, you can play with colors.
Have a great day!

My self portrait

White Star Line mug

My stones

My self portrait
This morning I gathered all of the things that I love and I took a picture of it. They are a self portrait without actually having a picture of me. The book in the picture is a Dear Canada book called Exiles from the War. I chose that one because I am very interested in the second world war and I love the Dear Canada books. Onother thing that I have is a White Star Line third class Titanic mug. I am really interested in the Titanic, and I love having my morning hot chocolate in this cup. I also have my Wolfy- a wolf stuffy that I have had since I was 6- because I love wolfs, and my cowgirl boots. I wear cowgirl boots practically all year round. The last 2 things in this are my stones- I collect jems and crystalls and lots of these favotite ones came from Banff- and some favorite fabrics. As you know I love sewing, and I also love blue and using the fabrics is how I incorporated those things. Have a lovely day!

Empty Bowls Festival

After face-painting at the Empty Bowls Festival in Airdrie

Walking home after the Empty Bowls Festival
My new bracelet- its hand beaded!
My mom and I went to the Empty Bowls Festival in Airdrie today. It is a fundraiser for the food bank, so they sell beautiful bowls, soup and tons of artists come to show and sell their work. It is held in Nose Creek park and they have wonderful music. We both had a wonderful time and I got a bowl- we do every year- and I had to get this hand-beaded bracelet from an artist named Sally Banks. You can see her beautiful work at http://beaudangles.wordpress.com/. Another artist there was Samreen Junaid. She did henna at my last birthday party. I sadly did not get henna done, but hopefully I will soon. The face painting that you saw at the top was done by Anita Singh. She was a high school art teacher in Pakistan. She is really good! I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I did!
